Saying Goodbye To Some Old Favourites

Yes, it’s that time of year again when we have to say “Goodbye, farewell and so long” to some of our favourite products… The annual Stampin’ Up! Retiring List has been released. But don’t despair, as of June 2nd, I’m sure you will quickly decide on some new and exciting ones to replace them, but for now, we shall appreciate these favourites!

Once again, some of our super creative team members from the ‘Eureka Stampers’ have decided to take you on a little journey via a blog hop, to celebrate these loved and soon to be gone favourites. One last hurrah before they disappear forever!

You may have ventured here from the gorgeous and very talented Rebecca Scurr – The Paper and Stamp Addict’s blog, or, I may be your starting point; but be sure to hop around and have a look at everyone’s fabulous creations and if you really love what you see, why not leave us a little comment?! We ❤️ comments.

As part of this hop, I wanted to showcase some of my favourite retiring Stampin’ Up! products which I will be sad to see go! Most of all, I will be mourning the loss of the 2013-2015 In Colors. Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and last but not least, my very favourite, Crisp Cantaloupe.

I wanted Crisp Cantaloupe to be a main feature on my design on this blog post and feature it has! Using the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and matching ink pad together, and stamping with the I Love Lace background stamp, we have made our own background card base. It gives a bit of ‘wow’ on our card!  Using these products as well as featuring a few more of my favourite retiring items, they get to shine one last time.

Another main feature on the card is the retiring Designer Series Paper Gold Soirée. Combined with the Apothecary Framelits, they sure do make a statement. And who doesn’t love items that are made for each other?! Well, the Lovely Label stamp set and co-ordinating Artisan Label punch do that just. Simple and quick, they are sure to make adding a greeting to any of your projects a breeze!

Embracing all things retired, I have to decided to bring back the good ol’ bagalope! Back in it’s hey day, the bagalope was the ‘in thing’ to create and decorate, at wrkshops, classes and the like, but soon enough, like most rends, it lost it’s shine, to be gone and forgotten… But not forever. Alas, it is making a return! I haven’t forgotten this awesome little trick to create a bag from the common envelope and I am making the bagalope cool again!!!

To create a bagalope we just:

1. Grab any one of Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful, high quality envelopes, stamp it with your desired design and seal it up.

2. Take one of the shorter sides of the envelope and trim just the top off with your paper trimmer. This will be the top of your bagalope.

3. Score all remaining sealed sides approx. 1.5cms in and fold all 3 lines with a bone scorer.

4. Stick  your hand in the top opening of bag for support and open up all folds.

5. Take hand out and push up the bottom of the envelope until it levels off at the score marks.

6. Flatten the end triangle peaks.

7. Apply Snail adhesive to these end peaks and push down and under to seal.

8. Decorate your bag, fill with whatever your heart desires, and seal by folding and adding a peg or a topper.

I hope that all makes sense?! It did in my head but please leave some feedback on how I can improve the instuctions for you.

I have used all retiring products in my creations today apart from the Whisper White envelopes which, thankfully will be continuing over. You can see all the retiring products and also purchase them here via my secure online Stampin’ Up! shop.
