CTC#66 | What I Love | Sale-A-Bration

IMG_4856-0

Hellloooooo and welcome to another week with CASE-ing The Catty.

Page 7 from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue is what inspired me using the fabulously floral ‘What I Love’ photopolymer set.

The card displayed in the catalogue is a little note card and for something a little different, I chose to ‘step-up’ this cute little card and make it my own.

I couldn’t resist adding one of my new favourite products to my card… Gold Wink Of Stella. But I didn’t add it in the usual, colour in over the top of my stamping way. I squeezed my Stella very gently until I saw a drop of it’s glittery gold goodness spill out onto the nib and I then gave the pen a slight flick over the top of my card. This allowed the Stella to create a fun flicky pattern of delicious drips and drops over a section of my card. I love the randomness of the flicks and of course, how it adds a little bit of sparkle as well. It is a great little technique and another way to use our Stella and I hope I have inspired you to give it a try on one of your own creations.

IMG_4736

I created my card as a standard C5 size as to fit into a regular Stampin’ Up! Australian envelope but kept the main element ‘note card’ size. I wanted to highlight this element so I used a matte of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum behind. I also added a big, bright bow next to it with Cucumber Crush Dotted Lace Trim. I love how this brings another fun and bright aspect to my card and ties (see the pun there?) it all together.

CTC#63 | Giggle Greetings Meets It’s My Party

IMG_4856

This week with CASE-ing The Catty, we are to be inspired by the ‘It’s My Party’ section of the Handmade From The Heart catalogue. This suite spans from pages 3-7 and is filled with the brightest and most fun creations. There is definitely a lot to be inspired by.

I was inspired by the design and colours of the card on page 6 and although I don’t have any stamp sets from this suite, I do have the fun washi tape { I love the balloons } and the matching bold Baker’s Twine { Isn’t the combination of the pink and black fabulous? } .

Scouring my shelf of stamp sets, I knew immediately which one I was going to pick. One that suited the fun theme and the bright colours and suited the design perfectly… Giggle Greetings. A really great but underutilised set from my collection. And I love how the card turned out!

Using the washi tape on the background instead of Designer Series Paper { DSP } is a great way to get a DSP effect and getting the most from your products. Washi tape isn’t just for sticking things down or adding an accent pop of colour.

To finish off the card, instead of using the Whisper White Baker’s Twine as they have done in the original, I used the Melon Mambo and Basic Black combo twine from the Combo Pack. The colours sure do pack a punch!

Thanks for visiting the CASE-ing The Catty blog hop this week. Be sure to play along with our challenges. You can get all the details and add your craft creation here.

It was my niece’s birthday back in December and I wanted to create a super special card for her that she can keep as a reminder of that special day and I decided I would base my card for her on the card at the bottom of page 1o of the new catalogue. Simply stunning and totally my style. Vintagey, whimsy and fun!.

I started with some Shimmery White paper as my main base of the card as I new I wanted to do some water colouring with my Aqua Painters, and the Shimmery White paper is perfect for this as well as adding a bit of bling to your card as well. I picked two colours for my background to co-ordinate with the rest of my card. Pool Party and Blushing Bride although where I needed a darker depth of colour, I snuck in a little Bermuda Bay and Watermelon Wonder.

I wanted to glam my version of the card I was CASE-ing up a bit as turning 18 is a bit glam and a very special occasion. I cut my numbers out of gold foil paper using the Large Numbers Framelits Dies and added the most magical new product to the top of the Gold Foil, our Wink Of Stella. It had a hard time drying on the Gold Foil paper, so I added some Crystal Effects over the top and this did the trick. I stayed with the gold theme to suit that adorable Bow Paper Clip on the top right hand corner of the card. I couldn’t resist adding these to my order. Just so darn adorable!

We have all the CTC Team joining us for this, our very first blog hop for the year, so please, make sure you head on over to the lovely Judy who has a beautiful project in store for you!

And if you wish to head on back to where you came from, just click the ‘previous blog’ link and that will get you there or if you get lost along the way, go on back to the CASE-ing The Catty blog where there is a list of all the blog hop participants. Enjoy ❤

CTC #57 | Season Of Cheer

Wow, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve played along with CASE-ing that Catty but it didn’t feel like 5 weeks. I am sorry guys but I am very happy to have joined back in this week. I hope you enjoy my card and hopping along!

You may have hopped on over to me from Rebecca’s page, The Paper and Stamp Addict or I may be your starting point. Either way, please make the time to go past everyone’s blogs and take a look at the amazing Christmas projects that they have created for you this week! PS. We love comments!

My CASE was inspired by the card on the left of this picture which is on page 34 of the Stampin’ Up! Handmade For The Holidays Occasions catalogue. Changing the background DSP to a festive holly sheet of DSP and the addition of gold sequins instead of silver, I think my design keeps the original inspiration and layout for the card, but changing it up enough to make it my own. I also added some gold heat embossing to the banner and some gold thread behind the banner. Not sure if you can see it peaking out there in the picture.

I created this card, had typed up my blog and scheduled it to go live but you know when you are lying in bed, trying to go to sleep and all those ideas and things you need to do, pop into your head? Well, after I had created my first card, I started to think that I could adapt the CASE a little bit more to be more ‘me’! Always inspired by my fellow CASE-ing The Catty DT member, amazing friend and now a 2015/16 Stampin’ Up! Artisan (Congratulations Jess! What an amazing achievement. We are all so proud of you!!! x), Jessica over at The Paper Caper, water colouring was on my mind. Jessica does the most incredible wter coloured cards and I thought I’d give this beautiful technique on this CASE. Get rid of the over-powering DSP background and make the simplicity of the greeting (which is what first drew my eye to the original card – I love these Thinlits) the main element.

My first thought for Christmas was the more traditional colours on the card as seen above. The Real Red, Mossy Meadow and Kraft, but again, while I was trying to sleep, my brain was saying to me, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay with a hint of silver what make a fun Christmas card too, so I had to give that colour combination a try as well. Not resisting a little addition of Blackberry Bliss thrown into the mix.

Now, that is my three takes on the original design. Hopefully now that they are out of my head and down on paper, I can sleep tonight. But with three designs to choose from, I’m finding it hard to pick a favourite. I would love to hear which one you like best and why?!

Next on your CASE-ing The Catty Season Of Cheer blog hop journey is the ever lovely Rachel over on her Stampin’ Pals page. Thanks for visiting and happy hopping everyone!

Vintage Graffiti | Monkey Business

Wow, oh wow, oh weeeee.

I have recently just come home from a Stampin’ Up! On Stage event that was held last weekend in different places simultaneously across the globe. Along with thousands of other demonstrators around the world, we were inspired, we got to create and share our love of stamping an in perfect Stampin’ Up! style, we were very spoilt and walked away with many new and gorgeous products. Some not even released yet like the Balloon Builder photopolymer set that I used to create my latest card.

I have already had so much fun experimenting with all the shapes and designs using all the elements from the set to see where my imagination took me. My favourite shape so far though has to be this little monkey that I cam up with. So adorable with his back turned to us, looking out onto the horizon, holding his birthday balloon with not a care in the world.

I really can’t wait to see what everyone else creates using this adorable stamp set… The possibilities are endless.

TGIFC #24 | Everything Eleanor

I am just scraping in to enter the TGIF Sketch Challenge this week by the skin of my teeth but I saw the sketch, loved it and knew that I had to create something.

My colour combination of Pool Party and Watermelon Wonder was inspired by my friend and fellow Stampin’ Up! team mate, Jessica Williams – The Paper Caper and her latest creation, although I substituted her use of Calypso Coral with Watermelon Wonder. I love how these colours go so elegantly together, set off by the Basic Black and Whisper White backdrop. I added some silver and bling to tie it all together.

I am not sure if I can actually create a card without fussy cutting on it. I seem to do it on most things I create and this card is no exception. The label, flower and teeny bird are all fussy cut and popped up onto dimensionals for this card.

My friend Mel – My Paper Oasis made a comment to me today that I do “the most amazing layering” on my cards and give them so much dimension. I’d never really taken much notice, but now that I think about it, I do love my layers and can rarely pull of a CAS (clean and simple) card. A style that I truly love but just can’t recreate. Thank you Mel for your lovely comment. You all inspire me everyday to be the best that I can be at all I do, so thank you.

I am truly blessed that I get to do and share what I love everyday! Thanks for visiting my blog.

GDP006 | Timeless Elegance

With school back and sports resuming last week, I was unable to play along with last week’s Global Design Project which was a colour challenge due to time restraints. I just had no time! This week I was determined to play along with the #GDP006 and it just happened to be one of my favourite styles of challenges… A sketch challenge. Although, when I saw the design, my heart skipped a beat and not in a good way. When I saw the design, I immediately thought that it wasn’t my style, but, once I had thought about it, I calmed down and let my mind wonder. I was going to make this design work for me!  I have had opened pack of our Timeless Elegance DSP sitting on my shelf for almost as long as it’s release and I haven’t dared to cut into it. It is just to darn pretty! I’d pull a sheet out, look at it, embrace it’s loveliness and then pop it back in it’s packet and put it back on the shelf, deeming it to stunning to cut up. Until today! I knew that it was time for my trusty Paper Trimmer to meet my Timeless Elegance DSP and the results, even if I do say so myself, are gorgeous. But, how could I go wrong when I had such an amazing array of papers to start with right?!

I wanted the Very Vanilla and Basic Black colour palette of the Timeless Elegance DSP to ‘pop’ and be a stand out on the card. With this in mind, I teamed it with one of our 2015-2017 In Colors, Watermelon Wonder. Even though this is a fairly bright colour, it doesn’t take away from the paper.

Earlier, I had also been playing around creating some flowers with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits and some Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper from the Cherry On Top Cotton Paper Assortment Pack and I wanted to use one of my flowers that I had created on the card. It made choosing my colours easy as there is only four cotton paper colours in the pack.

Creating the angles on this creation was the hardest thing for me. I usually like everything straight, even and in line… Not today. A corner cut off and I was well on my way. The rest of the card just came together without much struggle. Mostly with elements, accents and embellishments that I had already near me on my desk. My ‘go-to’ items. I did decide though that I wanted to use a photopolymer stamp set for the repetitive greeting element of the design just to make life a little easier and not have to use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. Endless Birthday Wishes was a perfect choice.

I am so pleased with how my flower turned out and think it’s the perfect addition to this card.  It was also really fun and easy to make and will definitely be making more in the future. Maybe have a few pre-made so they can easily be put on a card when needed. What do you think?

Lots Of Lovely Tags With CASE-ing The Catty

IMG_3356
I am really enjoying being part and playing along with the CASE-ing The Catty Crew and this week is no exception. Gift tag week! I love making and creating gift tags. As they are a little smaller than a card, they are a little quicker and easier to create whih means you can make lots in a little amount of time. They are versatile too. Spruce up any type of gift with them, add them to your homemade goodies for to make it a little bit more special, or pop a tag on a card front for a quick and easy handmade card. What I’ve chosen to do with this week’s challenge is to create some fabulous tags from some inspirational cards from the catalogue..

Your CASE-ing The Catty journey doesn’t end here. Next on your way is talented Alison from Goth Dove Designs with some more amazing ideas for you to see and try and if you get lost along the way, just click —> here to go back to the main page.
